SERVICES, POlicies, and FEes

Therapy session FEE

Individual therapy sessions are $150 per session unless otherwise agreed upon. I accept cash or credit card. Payment is due the day of our session.

*Please inquire about sliding scale fees or reduced fees for college students (limited slots)

Although I do not accept insurance, your insurance company may still cover part or all of the cost of your therapy appointment.

Your insurance may still help you cover the cost of therapy, depending on your out-of-network benefits. Take a look at your Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Here’s a quick guideline on the steps to take when contacting your insurance company:

1) Call the number on the back of your insurance card,

2) Ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, and be sure to ask:

  • If you have a deductible,

  • If your insurance will reimburse you for psychotherapy services, and if so,

  • How much will you be reimbursed?

If you’re using your out-of-network benefits, I will provide you a with a monthly receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is your responsibility to submit claims and communicate with your insurance company.

Here is a helpful youtube video that explains how to use Out-of-Network Benefits for Therapy

Please note that counseling sessions are considered a medical appointment and are covered by HSA/FSA funds

Cancellation policy

I ask all clients to please cancel 24 hours before our appointment, otherwise a Late cancellation/No-show fee of 45$ will apply. However, I understand emergencies happen, the flu hits your household, you have a last minute assignment, or maybe it’s just one of those days. For this reason, each client gets 1 free late cancellation/no show. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled session, the session will automatically be cancelled and the Late Cancellation/No Show fee of 45$ will apply

What happens in session?

The first session is spent getting to know you. We will explore your current stressors, history, strengths, and goals. We will complete any necessary assessments, answer your important questions, and review my policies. Here are some questions you might think about before our first session:

THE FIRST SESSION

What’s been keeping you stuck and getting in the way?

What motivates you to make changes?

What do you miss doing that you haven’t had the time, interest, or energy to do in a while?

What gives your life meaning?

What are you unclear about in your life, that if you figured out would make a big difference?

How is your daily self-talk?

When does your issue or symptoms happen the most? How often?

How have you coped this long?

Maybe you feel trapped by worry, or are consumed by feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt. Perhaps you keep reliving painful memories or are facing a loss of a friendship, or loved one. Negative thoughts and feelings of doom just won’t let up. Therapy is a safe place to help you process, learn new skills, and get back to your true core Self. I want help you maximize your potential to have a meaningful life, while effectively handling the inevitable pain that comes with it.

Therapy is not a place where you will be told what to do. I won’t tell you outright if you should leave your partner or quit your job. I will also never judge you, or tell you what is “right or wrong.” I will ask questions that compassionately challenge you, so by the end of it, you discover what is best for you.

If you have been to therapy before but have not seen the changes or relief you expected, I suggest trying out EMDR with me. EMDR is an evidenced based treatment for those facing trauma, anxiety, and depression. This type of treatment encourages our mind’s and body’s natural tendency to heal and resolve disturbing or stressful memories, events, symptoms with long-lasting and genuine results. It bridges the skills you have learned in therapy or life with what you feel internally.
